From Great Height - December 2007 to October 2011

Hello all,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the end of 'From Great Height'. After much discussion and deliberation we have decided that we have taken FGH, creatively, as far as we can and it is probably better to bow out gracefully now as opposed to sticking blindly to something we don't 100% believe in. It wouldn't fool anyone let alone fans who have followed us these past 4-5 years.

I won't go on too much, but in short, we have had a fantastic time. Whilst we perhaps didn't set the world on fire we have been knocking flint together for a while and enjoyed every second of it. We have achieved many of our personal goals and feel grateful for, and appreciate every single person who ever came to see us, listened to us, told someone about us. Real music is art not product and if you can make even just one person understand and connect with you, then you have won and it was all worth while. That many of you over the years have showed us continued support and put your belief in us is overwhelming and humbling indeed. So thank you.

I would also just like to say a few thank you's from the band to people who have helped and supported us along the way. No band can do it alone and underground music relies on a support network of music lovers who do it not for money but for kicks.

We want to thank Jenn Selby for giving us our first national press via Terrorizer. Thanks to Stu Tovell for showing us great support and supplying us with his vast knowledge. It was invaluable to a band like us just starting out. Thank you also to Ross Tovell, Andy Hall, Cherie Collins, Melissa Atkin, Lydia Martin, Sarah Squires, Rich Miller, Chris Reeves. Jake Slisz & Jason Blackford (and the house of blackfrost), Lea (Dark Violetta) and all the people who came to our shows and regularly paid their way in and supported the local scene and spread the music around (Sorry, i know i have missed out many people here. But thank you to everyone who came out to see us). Thank you to Derrick Wess, and his tireless work taking pictures that make us look much cooler than we really are. Thank you to Mark Seibert and 9blind, Dmonic (RIP), Syn X, Jack Cooney and Follly, Hal Sinden and the boys in Talanas, Beth Sinden, the boys in Talk Show Hosts, Tacoma Narrows Bridge Disaster, and all the bands we have ever played with and supported. Kunal Singhal over at Chaos Theory (One of the best independent promotions in London). Thank you to Jon and George at The Peel for making us feel so welcome time and again. All your help has been immeasurable and we can't thank you enough. A special thanks to Gary Boast our first drummer who helped get us off the ground in the early days and to Nick Beere at Mooncalf for being so patient in helping us record our first two EP's. Thank you to all the people at totalrock.com Malcolm Dome, Tina Saul & Sara Harding (been following TR since i was 16 and to get to be involved in some form was just a life dream realised). Thank you to everyone at Classic Rock: Presents Prog, Jerry Ewing and Holly Wright for all your help and advice, reviews etc... we will never forget that.

There are so many more people we should thank, friends and family who supported us throughout and i could write a list three pages long. So we will just say thank you to everyone for making FGH such a big part of our lives and for making it fun since day one.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As one journey ends, another begins.

We will still continue to write music. If you are a fan of From Great Height you can still follow it's members and their music.

Tim can be found creating some of the UK's finest Dubstep. With well over 7000 listens on his remix of DJ Fresh's 'Louder' and over 40,000 views on YouTube you would be a fool not to watch him with both eyes as closely as possible. Big things lay ahead for him. Head on over to his soundcloud page for more!

Adam & Michael the greatest partnership since Tuna Fish and Jelly have already begun work on a new EP for their new project titled 'Five Points Of Articulation'. Whilst probably the closest thing to FGH of all the side projects, do not be fooled. FGH this is not. Expect a dark electronic edge and a glaring simplicity that makes for a moody, darkened, heavy, post-industrial sound. If you can imagine NIN wrestling with Depeche Mode and Mogwai then you are half way there.

***Quick Update***

Hey guys, going to go a little bit quiet for a while as Tim has injured his foot (send him some love).

When we return we will be starting to record the next EP. I know i keep saying that but it was actually booked in for next week (that was until Tim had his legs bitten by a sharkodile whilst holidaying in Clacton). So we will return in September with a show in Camden and more details of our EP release!

Stay classy people.

***Pictures from the Peel***

Hello all,

Really awesome night down at the Peel earlier this month. Talanas and Spires were perfect hosts and we thank them for letting us tag on to the London date of their Bloodstock warm-up tour. It was a great night of music in one of our favourite venues. As a metal fan you/I couldn't really have asked for more. I highly recommend both bands.

Our good friend and associate 'Derrick Wess' was at the show. Here are some photographs that he took. As always you can find more of his extensive photography collection over at his official blog by clicking here.

***A quick thanks / Details for the next show***

Just a quick thanks to all who made it down last night. you were all top-notch as usual.

We had a great response to the mailing list too which is so important to us as it's the best/most direct way for you to keep in touch with what's going on in the world of FGH. Emails go out on the 1st of every month as rule of fun and we will never spam your inbox. Its just not how we roll ;)

And so.. on to the next show! 'Talanas and Spires Bloodstock Warm Up Tour. Feat. From Great Height'. Seriously this show is just going to be mind blowing. If you like your metal hard and loud and proggy then you have no excuse to miss this tour. It's certainly one of the best bills we have ever played on.

Doors are at 7.30pm and tickets can be bought on the door for £6. all the info you need can be found by clicking on the poster below. Hopefully see you there!

Until then,
